All Vows Lead Back To Chuck & Blair
Gossip Girl has had four weddings on it, three of which we saw the vows. In each of the weddings where we heard and saw the vows, they all related to Chuck and Blair. The words in the vows fit perfectly each time for who Chuck and Blair are, what is going on with them at the time, and who they eventually want themselves and their relationship to be.
Cyrus & Eleanor: Cyrus: “I Cyrus, take you Eleanor, to be no other than yourself” Eleanor: “I give you my love, I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine”
Lily & Rufus: “I know that our future will be just like us, flawed and fragmented, and full of more love than I ever thought possible…”
Vanya & Dorota: (This is when asking Vanya questions before the wedding, his answer to what he loves most about Dorota) “There’s so many things I love about her, but I think what I love most is the way I feel with her, with Dorota I am the best possible version of myself. I have peace in my heart knowing I will be a good husband, good father…”
The only wedding that didn’t show the vows was Bart and Lily’s, but instead we got a speech that has been the epitome of what Chuck himself has to be worthy of and what Chuck and Blair can be based on, which is forgiveness and love.
Chuck to Blair: (At Lily and Bart’s wedding) “One thing I learned from my father’s courtship of Lily is the importance of perseverance. That in the face of true love you don’t just give up, even if the object of your affection is begging you to. And one thing I learned from Lily is the importance of forgiveness. She gave my father the gift of a second chance and in kind, I’ve watched him become someone actually worthy of that gift. And one day I hope I’ll be lucky enough to find someone who will do the same for me.
Now we just await the vows that will matter the most, Chuck and Blair’s
